Salut! C'est moi, Aline Larivière, propriétaire de la boutique Laine de Bergère. Je suis une passionnée du tricot et de la transformation de laine. J'ai appris les bases du tricot à l'école lorsque j'avais dix ans. Mon premier projet réussi — j'avais alors 18 ans — a été une paire de chaussettes pour mon copain. Une amie, tricoteuse accomplie, m'a enseigné diverses techniques de finition et m'a montré à bien comprendre les patrons. Par la suite, j'ai pris plaisir à réaliser divers projets de tricot et de crochet sur mesure pour mes collègues de bureau, un moyen comme un autre de m'adonner à ma ma passion tout en respectant mon budget serré de jeune maman! À la naissance de ma deuxième fille, en 2000, j'ai quitté mon poste pour devenir une maman à plein temps. Pendant ces années avec mes enfants, ma famille et moi avons élevé un troupeau de moutons. Cette expérience m'a inspiré la création de mon blogue, Laine de Bergère, où j'ai le plaisir de partager mes expériences de transformation de laine et mes projets. Maintenant, c'est avec grande joie que j'ai ouvert ma boutique à Gatineau. Je l'ai elle aussi baptisée Laine de Bergère en l'honneur des moutons de notre bergerie, si mignons et attachants. Au plaisir de vous rencontrer bientôt! Hi! My name is Aline Larivière and I am the happy owner of Laine de Bergère, a cozy yarn shop on Main Street in Gatineau (Québec). I learned to knit when I was 10 years old and later enjoyed making socks as my first project. I was taught basic finishing techniques by the accomplished knitter and owner of a custom handknits shop from my hometown. As a secretary, I enjoyed knitting and crocheting on my lunch break and soon was doing commissioned knit and crochet items for co-workers. This was a fun way to enjoy my love for knitting and crocheting on my tight budget as a young wife and mother.  When our second daughter was born in 2000, I became a stay-at-home mom and during this time, I decided to raise a flock of sheep thus becoming the self proclaimed Bergère. I ventured to write my own knitting blog titled Laine de  Bergère to share my wool projects, post pictures, share how I process fleece and the country life I enjoy with my husband and kids. Always wishing and saying that I would love to one day own a yarn shop, I decided to open up a local yarn store when it was time to return to work once our third child had settled into the routine of school. We named the store Laine de Bergère as a tribute to the sheep we love so much! Thanks for taking the time to read a little history about me and wishing that wool be with you!
